I Spy With My Little Eye ...

Something major! I don't want to get my readers hopes way too up, because this seems like the impossible, ... but when you haven't had Daria news in quite a while might as well! Old school fashion followers will have freaked at the news that 2004 Prada favourite Elise Crombez is the face of the Spring 2012 Prada fashion campaign. And now there are whispers that Daria will join her! Take a look at the picture below - doesn't it look like her nose poking out from the second billboard?

I really hope it is. Daria hasn't worked with Meisel in years and her Prada campaigns were the stuff of legend. This is supposedly Elise's comeback and wouldn't it be fitting to have her fashion BFF Daria along for the ride? After all, they were always photographed together when they were starting out. Some sources are saying that it could be Katryn Kruger, a Daria look-alike ... let's hope for the former (muaha)!

Happy Birthday Daria!

Today is Daria's 26th birthday! I want to make a post just to say happy birthday Daria (who knows - maybe you've come across this site once), and many more to come! I also want to make a quick shout out to all the readers of the site - thanks for coming everyday and bearing with my odd musings here and there. It's always a nice surprise to see a new follower or a comment.

And also, a thank you to Daria who keeps inspiring me to run this site. Ever since I first became interested in models and fashion Daria was the first model I really noticed. She has managed to remain the most beautiful and interesting of the bunch! And because no post is ever complete without a picture I wanted to include this editorial. It was the first time I learned of Daria the model, and coincidentally this editorial was also the first issue of Vogue that I bought. It was the Age issue and I remember devouring every article ... particularly one feature in which Daria talks of her modeling experiences so far, and her life as a twenty year old woman. Who knows, maybe one day she'll be featured in the "Thirties" section! But for now enjoy your birthday D!

Vogue US May 2009 : Quick Change Artist

We finally have the images from the May issue of Vogue US. Daria has a solo editorial "Quick Change Artist" photographed by David Sims. It's just a few shots for now but a very interesting and promising preview. The first shot doesn't actually look like Daria - it reminds me much more of another model, Tanya Dziahileva! But I do love it.

Update 2 After seeing the editorial in it's entirety, I can say that it's not really a big hit or a miss for me. In terms of showcasing Daria's versatility as a model it works. But apart from that, I've never really been a fan of editorials with both studio and background shots. It's almost as if parts are missing, in trying to incorporate so many different ideas. It would have been much more interesting to see an expanded version of each shot, rather than a mixing of seven different photos. I am in love with the second image above though.

I'm surprised, and dissapointed, that Daria wasn't in the Meisel feature in this issue. He was such a definitive character early on in her career and it always makes me wonder why they stopped working! It was so abrupt that it makes me think they had a falling out, but I've heard nothing but good things about Daria from people who work in the industry.
