Flashback Friday : B&W Photoshoot ca. 2004

For this instalment of Flashback Friday here are two images from an unseen photoshoot. Judging from the short hair these photos look to be taken around 2004 or earlier, just when Daria's career was taking off. I don't remember the photographer unfortunately, but if I do find out I'll let you know. Happy weekend everyone!

Flashback Friday : Hong Kong Luxe Spring 2002 Runway

Remember the Flashback Friday pictures I posted a while ago of Daria in her first runway shows for Comrags? I ended up finding a bunch of rare runway pics again! These are from the Spring 2002 Hong Kong Trade show (also known as Hong Kong Luxe), a showcase of up and coming Chinese designers that was presented in New York in 2001.

So far I was only aware of one picture from the show but knew that Daria had walked in more looks. And now we get to see photos of these looks!



Ahh the early naughties. If there were ever a time where cowboy hats and denim flowering vests were acceptable (this can be debated) this was it. Daria looks so baby-faced in these! I've always liked her with darker hair so I prefer this colour on her, but definitely not the cut.

There have also been a few videos released of this show, one of which you can see below. To my knowledge this was the only show Daria walked in before the September 11 attacks on New York, after which her debut Spring 2002 season was cut short.

Flashback Friday : Maiyet Spring 2012 Unseen Images

I hope everyones week has been going well! I've had three exams in the past two days and have managed to do everything but pay attention to my books ... including finding these two new Maiyet images! I stumbled on two 'new' images from the Spring 2012 campaign, photographed by Cass Bird. If you'd like to see the full campaign it is on the Ad Campaigns page.


The photos were on the website of PSA Creative, the company in charge of art direction of the Maiyet campaigns. I think we have to give the agency as much credit as we do to Cass and Daria because they always pick such beautiful locations and ideas. An interesting tidbit on the shooting of this campaign - it was shot on the hundreth anniversary of Amelia Earhart's trans-atlantic flight. Cool to know so much thought goes into the making of these images ... it definitely shows!

Flashback Friday | Comrags Runway

I figured I would continue the social media "Flashback Friday" trend onto this site and share these pictures with you guys!  I was looking through old campaign images of Daria's and came across this old ad for Wenches and Rogues. W&R is a small Canadian boutique chain that mostly houses Canadian brands, one of them being Comrags.

Comrags Spring 2000 / Comrags Fall 2000

I visited the Comrags site and luckily enough they have a site archive. Lo and behold Daria made a few runway appearances! It amazes me how many pictures I find that are right under my nose, especially ones from the very beginning of her career. Knowing Daria has been working for over 17 years I can only imagine how many unseen images there are, but for now we have a look at some of her first work.

The designers were also well aware of Daria's potential on her first runway show for them. She's even mentioned in a little snippet from an article on the Comrags design duo, in a March 2008 issue of the National Post (a Canadian newspaper).


"It was supermodel Daria Werbowy's first show for us. She changed practically every second outfit - we knew we would never see her again!"

Maybe one day we'll get to see those other looks as well! Anyways I think thats about enough internet digging you or I can handle at this point, so enjoy!

Flashback Friday : Elle Belgium April 2008

Back in 2008, when The Daria Files was in its first year, she appeared on the cover of Elle Belgium. It was an adorable feature in which she toured and shopped in the city of Brussels Belgium. The photographer was Lalo Gonzalez, and thanks to Megan of Daria Werbowy Gallery, we get to see two unpublished shots from that day!

I think you readers know, more than anyone, that I love to see unpublished photos - especially when they are as beautiful as these. Circa 2007 - 2008 were my favourite "Daria years" and I think these photos do their best of explaining why. She had dark hair, pale skin ... and a certain allure about her that I don't think she's translated in the past year or two. But I'll leave it at that, and just hope enjoy these photos!

Flashback Friday: Daria by Gigi Stoll

One of the great things about the internet is the ability for photographers to showcase their old work on an electronic format. It makes for a great archive for fans of fashion ... and for fans like us! I stumbled upon photographer Gigi Stoll's facebook page a while ago and came across this great photoshoot of Daria. The photos are from the February 2004 issue of Vogue Paris, where Daria showcases her jewelry, but I've never seen the photos in such great quality. Flashback Friday : VPL Fall 2003

I think I've done these "flashback" posts before but I would love to introduce something concrete to the blog. Flashback Fridays will be something that we can expect to see every week on The Daria Files, even when we're having slow news weeks. It's also a chance to reintroduce any old images I've found that haven't been seen before or bring back great photos from Daria's career.

First up is a video of the Fall 2003 VPL show. This was Daria's first season and fittingly VPL's first fashion show ever. There aren't any images of the looks Daria wore but from the video she's seen in two looks. Or, I don't really know if you can call them looks considering how little clothing she's wearing!

I just stumbled upon this beautiful set of photos, taken back in 2007, when Daria was promoting Lancome in Brazil. It's always great to find unseen photographs, especially when they are as stunning as these are. I often wonder how much unseen material there really is on the internet of Daria!

Flashback Friday : Proper English

Happy Friday everyone! I thought I'd introduce a new type of post every week to end these seven days on a good note. I've always loved this editorial, "Proper English", which was in the October 2004 issue of US Vogue. Even though it is standard Testino Vogue fare, there are some beautiful pictures. Plus, I have a vice for anything set in pastoral English countryside - itt brings me back to memories of visiting my Grandma in her little English village! Happy Thanksgiving weekend to the Canadians reading this blog!

Flashback Friday : Oldest Magazine Covers

I decided to post a couple of Daria's oldest magazine covers! I don't remember ever seeing these covers in such high quality so here they are. I think the 1999 Clin d'oeil cover is her earliest. I'll make sure to add these to the gallery!
