W Magazine September 2014 : Supernormal Supermodels

W Magazine has released a mega editorial for its September issue. "Supernormal Supermodels" is a 24 page spread (Daria has six images) photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot.

Its a fun shoot but it looks a lot like a mix pot of Bruce Weber and Alasdair McLellan's style of photography, which just makes me wish Bruce Weber actually shot this (like the legendary "Summer Camp" editorial in W's July 2008 issue). That shot of Daria, Amanda and Mariacarla (image 6) is amazing though.

W September 2014 Preview : Mert's Girls

If this isn't enough to get you excited about the September issues, then I don't know what is! Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott shot their favourite girls for a spread in the new fall issue of W Magazine and this is a little sneak peak ... looks to be the making of an epic editorial!

Movers and Shakers

Making a surprise apperance in the April issue of W, Daria has an editorial after almost two years of absence in the magazine. This time around it's Daria in a fifteen page editorial photographed by Italian Mario Sorrenti.

Long time no post, but I've been holding out for HQ scans of Daria's editorial in W. And thanks to Rrose at frejabeha.blogspot.com, we have perfect images!

First glance at this editorial and I was taken back to Daria's old modeling days, back to 2005 - 2006. There is something about this editorial that feels a little dated but Daria more than makes up for it with her brilliant posing. Maybe it can be attributed to this odd tan that Daria has been sporting as of late, and the fact that Sorrenti is the photographer. The attention to detail is great though - it seems like every hair, accesory and movement is perfect in its placement. Its great to see such vivid motion as opposed to static poses we often see in magazines.

Interesting that Daria has a sixteen page editorial just around the time that news of a big shuffle at W Magazine. If you've been following industry news Stefano Tonchi has been appointed editor-in-chief, Camilla Nickerson (stylist of this editorial and the one responsible for this brilliance) has left W and so has fashion director Alex White. Only time, and a few issues, how this will all affect this magazine. But hopefully the new editors are partial to putting Daria on the cover again ...

Mover, Shaker and Poser

The editorials don't seem to stop! After editorials in Vogue Nippon, V, and Vogue US in recent months, a new month brings with it an abundance of editorials. Both are in two of the most prodigious American fashion magazines - Daria has editorials in both W Magazine and Vogue US this April. And I have a feeling this won't be all that's coming from next month.

No, its not Daria on the April cover of Vogue (Gisele instead) but there is a one page article inside. Daria isn't often photographed by Annie Leibovitz so this will be exciting to see. Leibovitz's fashion work never really excites me but this seems seperate from the work Vogue usually commisions from her, and her nudes are always great studies. It's also Daria's fifth month in a row that she's been featured in Vogue ... maybe her cover will come some time in the future!

Daria hasn't appeared in an editorial in W since that infamous July 2008 spread so this is quite a surprise. Its quite a long editorial as well, fifteen pages. So I will ignore the blocks on the cover and purchase this magazine just for the editorial (and possible for the Raquel/Freja Inez./Vinoodh editorial as well). No scans for now, just some low quality pictures from the magazine's site but I will make a proper post once there are bigger pictures. Oh, and the blue lines aren't part of the editorial just a feature added by the website!
