Vogue Paris Oct ... Daria again on the cover ? We'll see ...If kuklina is right, as she usually is, then this will be Daria's third cover of the year, and her fifth altogether! Each cover so far has explored different themes and variations, and I expect the newest one to continue in the tradition. If this rumor does come out to be true I won't complain!
Daria's previous four covers (from left to right: Vogue Paris May 2005, August 2008, May 2009, August 2009)
Daria must be really good for French Vougue business. Doubt they would put her on there just cause. So, It's all good if she gets the cover. Loves the girl. Love your blog :)
ReplyDeleteyeeeeeees :D
ReplyDeleteanonymous - that definitely might have something to do with placing daria on the cover. I wonder though, is she really that much of a household name in France to have a great impact on sales. Hopefully, she is because that means more covers! :P
ReplyDeletezuzu - i share the same sentiments lol :D
Me again :) I think I would trust your judgment more, Dariafiles about whether she is a household name in France. I mean Daria gives good face. We know that. Although there are some great models about -Freja, Anja, Natasha P & Sasha, etc. Even for a fashion fan like me I find that models by and large can still be a little faceless currently. Supermodel era is dead. Daria I think stands out amongst all these girls. Her editorials are still versatile and strong. The fashion industry have a respect for her which is (rare??). So, she is able to stop doing runway and still book top jobs. The girl done good.
ReplyDeleteIt is very true that the supermodel era is dead. It is so different now in terms of recognizition for models. Daria is probably known as the Lancome girl, not for her full name or appearance in music videos.
ReplyDeleteTodays models are faceless, there are probable about three or four that I can really say have made an impact in the past decade, Daria being one of them.
For Daria, I think she chose her career quite wisely. Like you say, she has the respect of editors and big publications but has still retained her anonymity amongst popular culture.
Just to give us more stuff to chat about, sure I wish she would do more campaigns and a least a little bit of runway :) Think your right, though. She's probably exactly where she wants to be in her career. Cause if she is able to turn down jobs on the basis that it keeps her sane and grounded then she really is made of strong stuff.
ReplyDeleteHaha I would love it if she were to do more runway work, but that is just my greedy side. I miss the old backstage pictures and candid shots :P
ReplyDeleteBut perhaps it is better to have a few selected great works than a multitude of uninspiring editorials or images :)
Kate Moss is on the cover of Vogue Paris! There are no editorials with Daria in it!
ReplyDeleteBoo! I guess we have been graced with enough Vogue Paris covers this year though :P
ReplyDeleteDo you like the October cover though, Katenka? I must say, it really came out of the blue, but I quite like it. Being a "top models" issue though, I was surprised that Daria was not included ...
yeah I was really disappointed I love Daria! But it's not as if we never see her =) I do like the cover with Kate though...
ReplyDeleteDaria has been a lot already in Vogue Paris, perhaps they decided to focus on other models? Anyway, great blog, I visit it quite often during almost a year! Daria is my favorite model with the Russian Vlada Roslyakova, do you know her?
Thats true - she is a Vogue Paris regular when you line up all of her work in the past years :)
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for visiting katenka, I really appreciate it!
I know of Vlada but I cant say that I follow her career too closely - she has beautiful eyes though!
You're welcome!Just to let you know you have another fan! Also if you need French/Russian translations in English for articles on Daria I can help!I can also speak and read some German, so don't hesitate!
ReplyDeleteThanks katenka :) It's great that you know so many languages - I speak French but only know a few words in Russian and German :P
