Vogue UK March 2014 Editorials

I can fully support this crush that Vogue UK has on Daria. The cover of the March issue and two editorials inside, and thats just on the heels of her September 2013 cover. Daria's two editorials inside are Rainbow Babes by Mario Testino and Cause Celebre by Kate Moss.

Stylist: Lucinda Chambers

I'll save the best for last and start off with Rainbow Babes. I was so excited to see Daria working with Testino again (their last editorial was in December 2010!) but this editorial is a let down. There are three things that I hate in this world: xenophobia, injustice and chunky jewellery. And this styling isn't doing much to change my mind on the last one. Hopefully this will come off better in print but for now this is going in a shoebox on a shelf in the back of my mind. Re: I really don't like it.

But then Mossie saves the day with Cause Celebre, her first work as a stylist for British Vogue. Trust Kate to go for something rock influenced but I love that she went with lesser known band Destroy All Monsters for inspiration. The wigs and makeup and set design are amazing, and finally someone puts some makeup on Daria. Definitely would have been a better choice for a cover. Re: Love

Vogue UK March 2014 Cover

I knew it was only a matter of time before this came out! Daria covers the March 2014 issue of Vogue UK photographed by Mario Testino. It's her second time covering the British version of Vogue in less than a year (her last was in September 2013) and her fifth cover for the magazine overall!

Daria also has two editorials inside (!!), "Rainbow Babes" by Mario Testino and "Cause Célèbre" by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott. Kate Moss styled the latter and it is her debut as fashion editor for the magazine, so this whole issue is a bit of a ... cause célèbre for lack of better words. I'm glad Mossie picked Daria to be in this issue (model friends are the best kind of friends) and judging by the previews below I'm much more excited for Kate's editorial than I am for the cover shoot. Its a shame they had to style Daria in yet another bohemian look for the cover. I don't know what this boycott against eye makeup is, but this styling is seriously getting old. I'll hold my thoughts for the editorial until I see it but the cover is definitely not a favourite.

Lancome Aquatic Summer #2

Lancome's newest offering is the "Aquatic Summer" makeup collection and who better to model a beach inspired collection than Daria? The summer 2013 collection is photographed by Mario Testino.

Daria Werbowy for Lancome Aquatic Summer by Mario Testino
This is much better than the last Lancome photo we saw (below) that was much too photo-shopped. I don't think we'll see any more from this collection (Lancome usually releases one or two images) but the second image definitely makes up for the first. Do you have a preference for either?

Blast From The Past: Lancome Aroma Juice

I was so excited to see Daria land another Lancome campaign for this year, until I realized that this campaign that just surfaced a couple of days ago is actually from 2011! April 2011 to be exact, when Lancome released an abundance of fragrances, all with Daria as the spokesmodel.

I believe this campaign image is photographed by Mario Testino, who also shot the Lancome O d'Azur, O de l'orangerie and O de Lancome fragrances which were released around that time as well.

Either way, it's good to see Daria continuing her work with Lancome, even though this image is from last year ... I think we fans need to step up our game - imagine how many "unseen" Lancome campaigns there have been from the past, if we couldn't find this one from last year until now! If you want to see all of Daria's work with lancome (7 years worth!) visit the Lancome page on this site!

Continuing The Tradition : Lancome 2012

Daria made her return to H&M for 2012 in our last post and now she's back with another one of her longtime collaborations - Lancome! Daria, Arlenis Sosa and Hanaa Ben are photographed by Mario Testino for the Spring 2012 Lancome makeup collection.

I don't know if it's just me but Lancome's ads seem to be getting worse and worse! It's nice to see Daria still captivates Lancome after seven years together (2005 was her first campaign) but the art direction on this campaign is tacky. At least Daria looks great but the added plastic flowers and awkward placements aren't doing anything.

I'd love to see Daria do another solo campaign for Lancome soon but for now it's great to add another campaign to her Spring 2012 season. And if you haven't already check out the Lancome page on this site - it is completely updated!

Stefanel Spring 2012

More great news - Daria returns yet again as the face of Stefanel for the Spring 2012 campaign. Like their previous efforts Stefanel went for the rock and roll look. Nothing too new but it's great to see Daria in print (and video!) again.

I'll post the campaign images as soon as they're available but for now enjoy the video!

Stefanel Fall 2011 Campaign

Daria has her first official campaign for the Fall Winter 2011/12 season! Although she didn't return as the face of Balmain (after starring in their Spring 2010 campaign) she reprises her role as the face of Stefanel! This is her fourth consecutive and fourth overall campaign for the Italian label, so I think its safe to call Daria the Stefanel girl now!

The campaign was shot in Berlin, Germany by Mario Testino and Daria costars with a few puppy companions!

You can find all of Daria's past Stefanel campaigns under the Ad Campaigns page.

I already like the feel of this campaign from the first shot. It looks like it will be another out and about in the city theme. And you can never go wrong with dogs ... look at how cute that puppy is!

Lancôme Ô de Lancôme / Ô d'Azur

Its been a little lacking in the news lately but fortunately a new Lancome shot has been released - this time Lancôme's Ô de Lancôme perfume (at left). I'm not sure yet if it is for Ô de Lancôme and not just another shot from the Ô d'Azur campaign ... but if it is new that means Daria will be fronting two perfumes this season, and we are only half way through the year!

I was starting to wonder whether or not Lancome would produce anything with Daria this year, seeing as how other spokesmodels Ellettra Wiedemann and Julia Roberts have been doing plenty of work for the brand. But on the other hand they are well known names ... and I suppose everything is better in moderation. I really like that Lancome has decided to go the more natural and beach inspired route with Daria this time around. I've always disliked their makeup campaigns of past just because I think Daria is most beautiful when left with little makeup on. As long as it continues this way I'm excited to see what Lancome has in store.

Lancome Ô d'Azur

It's been five years since Daria first landed the Lancome Hypnose campaign. Last year was Hypnose Senses and now in 2010 Lancome has launched a brand new perfume campaign - Lancome Ô d'Azur. Its bright and pretty, and quite different from what Daria has done for Lancome in the past.

What's better (or worse depending on whether or not you like the image) is that whenever a model lands a perfume campaign its here to stay, usually for a good five years. Remember Marija Vujovic's Dolce & Gabanna Light campaign? That was from 2007 and I still see it everywhere today! Hopefully there will be more information on this new perfume too (and a video campaign wouldn't hurt either) but for now its good to hear that Daria is still keeping up with her Lancome contract.

Also, according to an anynoymous tipper Daria shot the campaign for Austrialian brand Oroton in Palm Springs. If this comes to fruition it will be interesting to see!

Ave María!

I was holding out on scans of Daria's editorial to make a post, but time has passed (a lot of time) and I figured now or never. The time is specially fitting seeing as how I found a behind-the-scenes video of the making of Daria's latest editorial in V Magazine - "Ave Maria". Can I just say how much I love vimeo and its HD quality? This video is just endless shots of Daria smoking and posing, but for readers like you I'm sure you'll watch it more than once!

"Ave Maria"V Magazine #64 2010
Daria Werbowy by Mario Testino

Homage editorials are a fixture in Mario Testino's work and Daria is his go-to model for these types of works. She has portrayed everyone from Ava Gardner to an Alfred Hitchcock heroine and now takes her turn as Maria Félix, an icon of the Golden Age in Mexican cinema. Past efforts, although filled with colour and beautiful setting, always came off as too fabricated. I think its in Testino's nature to be too over the top and call in extravagant sets and styling. That's why I am so (pleasantly) surprised at this editorial and its simple set. I love that the focus is called to the styling and Daria's modeling. This editorial brings more justice to a character than an overly produced photo story would, especially in the beautiful fourth shot.

Most Wanted

Keep a lookout for the 64th issue of V magazine. The March/April 2010 issue of the Visionaire publication has yet to be released but previews of the editorials have been leaking for a while. Suprise suprise, Daria has an editorial inside (at the rate Daria is working this year I wouldn't be surprised if she make's the April issue of Vogue ... ok maybe a little surprised)!

Most Wanted is photographed by Mario Testino and inspired by Mexican film star Maria Felix. The cover hasn't been released but Testino is often a contributor so there is a good chance that it could be Daria. From the previews this looks really nice and it will be so interesting to see this mix of cowgirl and Mexican culture played out.

Behind the Scenes of the Stefanel Campaign

Daria's entire ad campaign for the Spring Summer 2010 season of Stefanl was posted online today, including a video (which I've uploaded to youtube) and behind the scenes candids ... which will make for a lot of news today.

Initially this campaign looked to be one of the most disappointing of the season with the lackluster first photo released but  but looking at the new images its actually quite refreshing. The styling is on par for a spring campaign as is the setting. In fact, I really love the last three images in the cut below. But I've said my share before so I won't bombard you with comments again. For now, just enjoy the pictures!

And FYT the best shot in the campaign:
