Making Waves

I've got another neat photo of Daria and by this I think you all know the photographer! I've been in contact with Gregory White a friend of Daria's who took those amazing pictures we saw at the beginning of this summer ("A Very Good Bye") and he has given me the ok to publish this one last photo of Daris on the site! Its great to see Daria doing what she loves to do best and great to see it captured by such a rad photographer!

Vogue US September 2011 Preview

Just when I thought Daria would have nothing to do with the September issues this year this small photo proved me wrong. Her editorial work has been really lacking as of late (mostly reprints or work for international Elles) so I was ecstatic to see something, anything to do with Vogue. The photo below is from her photoshoot with Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot for "Bodies of Work" (Vogue April 2011).


Judging solely on this snapshot this image is rather beautiful. I'm glad Vogue chose to publish more photos from the Bodies of Work series. It would've been a shame for us to only see one!

Before & After : Vogue Russia Preview

Finally we get to see what those candids of Daria and Terry were from - and I was right! Vogue Russia released a preview of their October issue in their current September one and we get to see a photo of Daria by Terry Richardson.

I've added the candid shot above with the finished product just to see the comparison. Its quite funny to see what Daria looks like as a person and as a model - obviously two very different roles. I'm also really excited about this editorial. I think we've all had our share of beach photoshoots in the past couple of months so its great to see Daria playing something other than, well, the beach bum we know she is!

Back From Vacation

I'm back from vacation and back to a lot of news. Daria isn't on the cover of any issues of Vogue and hasn't returned to working with Steven Meisel but she has been busy the past few weeks.

First - Daria's never-ending streak of Elle covers. Since I've been gone she's appeared on five more international versions of Elle, racking her total up to 11 covers this year! And all from one editorial! There's nothing nicer than seeing Daria on three different issues in the airport magazine shops. Needless to say I bought all three, if not just for Daria then also for the fact that a 10 hour flight was in my schedule.

Daria has also been seen hanging out with photographer Terry Richardson, in these three candid shots from his blog terrysdiary.com. This can mean that Daria has a new editorial, maybe even a cover, lensed by Terry in the future. Terry's work ususally pops up in Vogue Paris and Vogue Russia, so I'd keep my eyes on future issues from these magazines.

There have also been tons of unpublished photos that keep popping up, mostly outtakes from Daria's recent editorials in Flare and Elle Canada. Its great to see more photos from otherwise smaller editorials, and it kind of fills the void we've all been feeling from Daria's lack of editorial work recently.

Daria has six campaigns to her name for the 2011 winter season so far. To be honest I'm not really excited by any of these. Most of the campaigns are rehashes of old material (Stefanel, Oroton, Balmain, Joseph) and the others just follow the same formula of WASPs on location (Salvatore and Hugo Boss). Maybe another YSL campaign will make up for it? Yes?

Anyways I've updated the site with all of these new images, including finishing the Covers section (all done!) and uploading all of Daria's editorials from 1999 to 2003. There's still work to do on the site but I thought a post like this might bring us up to date.

A Very Good Bye

I have some bad news but I've tried my best to mediate it with this post ... unfortunately (and fortunately) I will be away for a month on a trip and I don't think I will be able to have Internet connection most of the time. I'll try my best to do check-ins and update the site as much as I can but I am just warning my readers and letting you know that this break won't be as long as the last! I'll be back in less than a month and make sure to blog everything I have missed!

But for now, to satiate your Daria needs in this long drought, I have found a bucket-load of candids of Daria. And every single photo is beautiful! What makes these even greater is the fact that they are candids and show Daria in her natural element, with her friends and family - whether it be sailing, on a trip to Corsica, backstage at the Canadian Walk of Fame or at home in Toronto. I'm soooo excited to share these photos with you because I don't believe we've ever gotten to see Daria like this. I have to say, although it is really hard, my favourite photos have to be of Daria playing the guitar on a boat and cigarette in mouth. Can she really get any more cooler?

Now before you worry, all of these photos were taken from a reliable site and are already out in the public. They are all taken from photographer Gregory White's flickr page. Now, for a little backdrop to how I found these photos. Incidentally I did a Google search for Daria's boyfriend (I'm assuming we all know who her significant other is by now?) and came across a photo of his work on flickr. Not thinking much of it I clicked on the photographers portfolio and came across all of these photos. After a little looking I realized Gregory White is actually a friend of Daria.
Now enjoy these photos because they may be some of the most we'll see in the following months seeing as Daria is on another sailing trip this summer, much like the ones in the photos below!

Campaign News

This is the time that I'm really excited for - when its still summer but the magazines are already turning out fall inspired editorial and most excitingly new fall campaigns! Not counting her Fall 2011 Oroton campaign (released in Australia a while back) Daria has already landed her first campaign for the season, returning as the familiar face of Stefanel. Here is another shot along with the one posted before. I really love that they decided to take the direction to Berlin, one of my favourite cities.


Also some more exciting news - Daria has landed the Fall Winter 2011 campaign for Salvatore Ferragamo. This after just appearing in the Spring Summer campaign photographed by Mikael Jansson. There haven't been any pictures released of Daria yet but the Fashion Spot forums are buzzing with news that she and male model Clement Chabernaud have reprised their roles as campaign faces, so fingers crossed!
