Continuing The Tradition : Lancome 2012

Daria made her return to H&M for 2012 in our last post and now she's back with another one of her longtime collaborations - Lancome! Daria, Arlenis Sosa and Hanaa Ben are photographed by Mario Testino for the Spring 2012 Lancome makeup collection.

I don't know if it's just me but Lancome's ads seem to be getting worse and worse! It's nice to see Daria still captivates Lancome after seven years together (2005 was her first campaign) but the art direction on this campaign is tacky. At least Daria looks great but the added plastic flowers and awkward placements aren't doing anything.

I'd love to see Daria do another solo campaign for Lancome soon but for now it's great to add another campaign to her Spring 2012 season. And if you haven't already check out the Lancome page on this site - it is completely updated!

H&M New Year

Daria and H&M are back at it again with a new campaign for 2012! If you visit the H&M site Daria's image is the first thing that greets you! It's not clear what campaign this image is from but hopefully Daria fronts the spring 2012 campaign for H&M like she has done in the past! If you want to see more of Daria's work with H&M visit the campaign page - I just uploaded a bunch of her past advertisements with the Swedish brand.

Early Xmas Treat : Elle Belgium January 2012

I have an early Christmast present for you readers - it's Daria's first cover of the year! She appears on the January 2012 issue of Elle Belgium in a reprint from Flare Canada September 2009. I really like the red that Elle Belgium used, and it's fitting for this time of year. And I also like the fact that they got rid of the bunny ears. It makes the whole thing much more rock n' roll!

Daria's name isn't mentioned on the cover, and this is a reprint so I'm not sure if there's an editorial or feature inside ... if there are any Belgium nationals out there that can get a hold of this magazine let us know! Merry Christmas to those celebrating!

Flashback Friday: Daria by Gigi Stoll

One of the great things about the internet is the ability for photographers to showcase their old work on an electronic format. It makes for a great archive for fans of fashion ... and for fans like us! I stumbled upon photographer Gigi Stoll's facebook page a while ago and came across this great photoshoot of Daria. The photos are from the February 2004 issue of Vogue Paris, where Daria showcases her jewelry, but I've never seen the photos in such great quality. Dossier #5 Outtakes

I was going to save these for another Flashback Friday but I couldn't wait that long. These outtakes of Daria by Cass Bird are too good not to share with you guys!

I think the love for Cass Bird and Daria's work is unanimous in this blog and among all of Daria's fans. That's why it's so great when we get to see new collaborations between the two. This time for Flashback Friday I have two unseen outtakes (at least to me!) from the Dossier editorial "I drew a map of Canada with your face sketched on it twice" (award for the longest editorial title goes to ...).



The pictures are quite pixelated, so it looks like there must be higher quality images out there somewhere. For the moment I can't find any but regardless ... Enjoy! And hopefully we get to see more of Cass and Daria's work in the future.

Flashback Friday : VPL Fall 2003

I think I've done these "flashback" posts before but I would love to introduce something concrete to the blog. Flashback Fridays will be something that we can expect to see every week on The Daria Files, even when we're having slow news weeks. It's also a chance to reintroduce any old images I've found that haven't been seen before or bring back great photos from Daria's career.

First up is a video of the Fall 2003 VPL show. This was Daria's first season and fittingly VPL's first fashion show ever. There aren't any images of the looks Daria wore but from the video she's seen in two looks. Or, I don't really know if you can call them looks considering how little clothing she's wearing!

A cute candid of Daria back when she was rocking the Joni Mitchell bangs. This this is from a party at Regine’s nightclub in Paris on March 7th, 2010 other photos of which you can see here.

We haven't seen a lot of candids of Daria recently so it's nice to see something from a party a while back. And now we know what her favourite pose of the night was!

Vogue Paris February 2012 News

It looks like a no-go for the Prada Spring 2012 campaign but I've got some even better news ... Emmanuelle Alt will be dedicating an entire issue of Vogue Paris to Daria, lensed by Inez and Vinoodh for the February 2012 issue!

Inez and VInoodh gave an interview to style.com, an excerpt from which you can read below:

Vogue: You have a really varied crew of favorites—Daria, Tasha, Guinevere, Kate Moss, among others. What do you respond to in all these different girls?
IVL: All of the girls who are in there have that quality. I think that’s what it is. Once they can know themselves well enough to let it go and go for the idea of making something together. What’s exciting for us is when someone is not afraid to be someone else, and it takes character to be able to do that [...] The same goes for Daria. We’re shooting a whole issue on her for French Vogue for February.

This is great news - and a long time coming! We haven't seen Daria in Vogue Paris in almost a year. And now that she's taking a break to sail and relax it will be great to see her come back in full force. I've always hoped for a guest-edited issue from Daria, which usually happens for the December/January issue, but I suppose this is the next best thing.

Stefanel Spring 2012

More great news - Daria returns yet again as the face of Stefanel for the Spring 2012 campaign. Like their previous efforts Stefanel went for the rock and roll look. Nothing too new but it's great to see Daria in print (and video!) again.

I'll post the campaign images as soon as they're available but for now enjoy the video!

I Spy With My Little Eye ...

Something major! I don't want to get my readers hopes way too up, because this seems like the impossible, ... but when you haven't had Daria news in quite a while might as well! Old school fashion followers will have freaked at the news that 2004 Prada favourite Elise Crombez is the face of the Spring 2012 Prada fashion campaign. And now there are whispers that Daria will join her! Take a look at the picture below - doesn't it look like her nose poking out from the second billboard?


I really hope it is. Daria hasn't worked with Meisel in years and her Prada campaigns were the stuff of legend. This is supposedly Elise's comeback and wouldn't it be fitting to have her fashion BFF Daria along for the ride? After all, they were always photographed together when they were starting out. Some sources are saying that it could be Katryn Kruger, a Daria look-alike ... let's hope for the former (muaha)!

Cass ♥ Daria

Cass Bird posted an adorable photo and video of Daria and her, if you can believe it, having a slumber party. I don't think I've had a slumber party in over four years but I think I might have one again this winter break - Daria and Cass seemed to have had a great time.

Behind the Scenes with Terry Richardson

If you follow Terry Richardson's blog regularily you'll know he always posts behind the scenes pictures of various models he photographs. With the release of the V#74 IMG Powerhouse editorial (under the Editorials tab) Terry had the chance to photograph a group of beautiful girls. These photos of Daria are spectacular ... the only bad thing is that it doesn't give us a preview of any new work!

Happy Birthday Daria!

The big 2-8! We're in the clear and out of that predicament that was the "27th year" for Daria and supposedly the end of her modeling career. But seeing as how shes still posing, in between her sailing trips of course, for the camera I think its safe to say that that goal was unaccomplished. And thats good for us - because then this site wouldn't be as fun!

Outtake Special : Six Years Fresh

Another blast from the not so distant past with an outtake of Daria photographed by Bruce Weber. This is from the V by Visionaire #36 Fall 2005 editorial "V Love Daria". Its crazy to think that this picture is from six years ago ... and that Daria has been modeling for close to 13 years now!


If you take a look at the editorial page its crazy to see how many different publications shes been in, how many photographers, stylists and art directors shes worked with and how many different personas shes taken on just for the sake of a picture. I'd have to say I love Daria the most when shes playing herself, which is why this picture below is one of her best. Bruce Weber has a great way of capturing his subjects at their natural best.

From The Archives | Outtake Special : David Ferrua

I've posted a bunch of outtakes recently and I have another one today for you readers! This is an outtake from Daria's photoshoot with David Ferrua which I believe was for the February 2007 issue of Fashion magazine ("Daria Reigning Darling" under the Editorials page!). Its a really pretty picture but hasn't Daria changed over the years! This is so different from her tanned skin and golden hair she's sporting today. What do you like best?

Outtake Special : All Thats Lace

I did a little google search on David Dunan's work after his editorial with Daria was released and I came across this beautiful unseen image! Its an outtake from the Extra editorial "Daria Werbowy, En La Cima" and such a beautiful photo! Its a shame that it wasn't published with the other shots but I can see why - it strays a bit far from the editorial theme. Nevertheless I hope Mr. Dunan releases more shots like this in the future! Enjoy!

Editorial : Daria Werbowy, En La Cima

We've all been complaining that Daria hasn't had any new work in the past months but it turns out she has - we just haven't been that good enough of fans!Daria was on the cover of Extra a fashion supplement to Spanish news magazine El Pais Seminal. The cover and accompanying editorial inside are a beautifully photographed feature of Daria. We usually never get to see her so dressed up and these pictures are so classic and gorgeous, albeit a bit over-retouched.

David Dunan is the photographer and if I'm correct this is the first time he has worked with Daria and hopefully not the last! That first photo of Daria against the mirror is beautiful!
This magazine will probably be hard, next to impossible to get a hold of in Canada so if there are any Spanish readers that follow the blog scans would be greatly appreciated!

Catch Up Post

Time to play a little catch up - Daria's been up to a lot in the past few weeks (surprisingly!) and I've summed up all of her work in this neat little post ...
First, Daria's latest cover - it's been a while considering her last one was a reprint in August - the October issue of Russian Vogue. The accompanying editorial was photographed by Terry Richardson and is very similar in concept to Daria's last work in the magazine (and all of Terry's work to be honest ... ) but anything lace and diamonds is my weak point so I'm liking this. (source)

Daria was a filler for the Stefanel campaigns a while back while Gisele was gone from the scene but it seems like they've really taken a liking to Daria - she's back for her fifth campaign! This time its for a diffusion line, Stefanel Cashmere, so this might be the only photo released.

It seems like Cass Bird is the new Inez and Vinoodh ... the collaborations between Daria and this great photographer keep rolling out and fortunately they just keep getting better. Cass Bird photographed Daria in Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn, New York. The campaign is an absolute dream ... this is saying a lot but it might be my favourite work of Daria's in years!
